Cycling For All

Each Wednesday. 10:30am to 12:30pm

Hillsborough Park

Cycling 4 All cycling sessions are designed to help disabled people and people with long-term health conditions get cycling. They use a range of adapted trikes to enable people to explore Hillsborough Park.

Weather dependant, a group of VIPs (Visually Impaired Peddlers) meets each Wednesday. If you want to find out more, please visit the Cycling For All website

Cycling is an excellent way to enjoy independence of movement, improve mobility skills and increase fitness. In partnership with Cycling 4 All’s workers and friendly volunteers, sessions are held at Hillsborough Park where a range of adapted bikes, trikes and tandems are available.

Depending on your degree of sight, you may want to try a modern tricycle and follow someone wearing a bright colour and helping you to navigate. You could try a reclining trike (very comfortable if you have back issues) or a hand trike if you cannot move your legs. For an extra challenge they even have one where your arms and legs work together. There are also side-by-side trikes where a friend can steer / do all the work, normal bikes with occasionally ebike options to try. Finally there are tandems, where a sighted person is the pilot and you are the ‘stoker’ at the back. This can be freeing and a thrilling experience as you get the sensations, speed and lean of a skilled cyclist but in a collaborative way.
