All of our services are funded by SRSB with no financial assistance from any local or national government body or statutory agency. Our only source of funding is voluntary donations and investment income generated from investments made from legacies received. We are always striving to improve the quality and range of services we offer but are restricted only by the available resources of time and money.
There are many ways in which you can help us achieve our aims such as volunteering your time, joining our lottery scheme, making a donation or remembering us in your will. Further information on all of these and more is explained in detail by following the links in the menu on this page.
Please do not hesitate to contact us to request assistance or further information on any of these topics.
As we have already said on our Home Page, we are always looking for volunteers to help us in a wide variety of ways. See the separate 'Volunteers' page via the link (abouve left), or give Diane a call on (Sheffield) 2419514.

Traditional fundraising is still one of our main methods of paying for the services we provide. Many volunteers, both sighted and visually impaired, donate their time to collect donations in busy shopping areas of Sheffield. We also sell a number of small value products, the profits from which also fund our services. The most popular of these is the 'Supermarket Trolley Key Ring' that contains a pould coin sized disk that fits the kind of shopping trolley that normally requires a pound coin to release it.

For further information, see 'Fundraising' Link (top left) for a message from Sue Coggin, our Fund Raising Manager, or call her on: (Sheffield) 2419513

Looking for a place to buy online and support the SRSB? Try www.buy.at/sheffieldblind. This features a wide range of goods and services, from a variety of respectable names, such as Marks & Spencers, CD-Now, Blackwell Books and many others. Every time you buy something this way, the SRSB receives commission.
We can raise money and help the environment at the same time by recycling printer, fax and copier cartridges (both laser and inkjet). Please save any used cartridges and drop them in to our Mappin Street Centre. If you are a business and have a few cartridges we can arrange collection from your offices. The recycling firm pay us for every cartridge they collect and over the course of a year the funds generated by this are a worthwhile contribution to our funding.
If you have an old mobile phone knocking about the house that you don't need any more, it is not worth anything to you, but we can re-sell it and raise more funds for the society. Please hand in any unwanted mobile phones to Reception at our Mappin Street Centre.
What do you mean, you have everything you will ever need? You obviously haven't seen our charity wrist bands, available for £1.50 from Reception. Scientific tests have been carried out that prove beyond doubt what we already knew. An SRSB wrist band makes you more attractive to the opposite sex and will bring you wealth and unbounded happiness throughout the rest of your life.
OK, so this is a blatant lie, but owning one will definitely make you feel good.
No, we haven't lost it completely. We have access to a range of T shirts that carry the message 'Touch it' in large raised braille dots. As they are very exclusive, the cost is £12 each and for each one we sell, £6 goes to our funds. Other garments will be following shortly.
Verdict: A great talking point at parties, a good way to make new friends and a perfect way of getting yourself locked up if you get too carried away!
