SRSB is an independent charity, one of Sheffield's oldest, formed in 1860. We work to support visually impaired people of all ages in the Sheffield area by providing a high quality programme of welfare, education, training, recreation, counselling and care services both in our fantastic new 'Mappin Street Centre' and in the community.
We support over 3,000 people with sight loss through our community based services, around 200 of whom attend our centre on a weekly basis. At Cairn Home our residential home in Crosspool, we care for up to 30 elderly people with a visual impairment. We are an entirely voluntary society which does not receive any government or local authority grants and as a result, we rely on the generosity of the general public and local businesses to maintain our high quality and much needed service.
