Further information on all the following services is available from our Mappin Street Centre.
We act as agents for RNIB Talking Book Service in the Sheffield area. This service is currently funded by Sheffield Council which pays for the hire of the machine plus membership of the library for anybody who is registered blind or partially sighted. The service is also available to people who are not registered as blind or partially sighted for a fee of £57 per year. We arrange for delivery of the machine plus a demonstration of how to use it. In addition if machines are faulty we will collect the machine, repair it and return it to the user, whenever possible providing a loan machine whilst the original is being repaired.
We act as agents for British Wireless for the Blind Fund and subject to certain criteria regarding need we can supply on free loan a radio/cassette/CD player to anybody registered as blind or partially sighted. See our Links page for the British Wireless for the Blind Fund website.
