Visual Impairment Awareness Talks are given to local schools, luncheon clubs and any other community groups that are interested. Further information is available from Linda Herbert, Community Liaison Manager, at our Mappin Street Centre.
In
order to improve visually impaired people's access to services and facilities
we offer access audits and staff training to other organisations and businesses.
All organisations (statutory, commercial and voluntary) have obligations under
the Disability Discrimination Act and we can offer advice and training to
ensure compliance with the legislation. It also makes good commercial sense
for organisations to make their services easily accessible to visually impaired
people - There are over 3,000 people registered blind or partially sighted
in Sheffield and over 2,000,000 in the UK. Yet RNIB
research indicates that only 1 in 3 people with significant visual impairment
are registered!
Our services are tailor made for each client and rates are negotiable.
For further information please contact Linda Herbert, Community Liaison Manager.
