History Stories Request

SRSB logo We are currently looking for personal stories from SRSB's history to put in to a commemorative brochure we are producing. We have been in Sheffield for 161 years this year and want to hear about any memories from clients, for example, stories from the school, about holidays, activities, visits to the charity, the different centres we have occupied etc. And more general things, like how treatments have changed, how assistive products have changed, how attitudes have changed etc

Here are a couple of examples of the kind of thing we'd love to hear about:
One is a story about Ruth and Jim Coyle, which was prompted after their son Danny saw an episode of Call the Midwife. Danny’s parents were both clients of SRSB and he is one of their three sons. After he watched the programme, which featured a story about a young blind mother in the 1960s he said, “I can honestly say I wept tears of joy and tears of sadness, it was so true to life.” Read more here.
The other is a memory from Carol about a ghost at the school at Tapton Mount School. Read more here.
Please get in touch with Jane on marketing@srsb.org.uk or call 0114 272 2757 if you would like to share a memory, we'd love to hear from you. Thank you.
