NOTE: Since this article was first written the meeting at Talbot Lane Methodist Church on Tuesday 27th November was changed to Wednesday 5th December

Rotherham Sight & Sound (RSS) which is a division of Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind (SRSB) is disappointed to discover that as part of Rotherham Council’s plan to address the £30 million savings required over the next 2 years, they are proposing not to renew the contract that they set up with the charity to deliver services to sight and/or hearing impaired clients in the town.

Our centre was set up in 2017 as part of an initial 2 year contract with Rotherham Council and has been a much needed service in the town, which has been well received by both its 677 clients and the local council alike.

In response to this, the we are encouraging people to send their feedback via the council’s online ‘Have Your Say’ form on their website or by sending a letter in the post: Stategic Director, Adult Care, Housing and Public Health Rotherham MBC, Riverside House, Main Street, Rotherham. S60 1AE. The closing date for the consultation is 30th November.

In addition, the Assistant Director Strategic Commissioning at the council has agreed to carry out a consultation meeting with RSS clients which will be held at Talbot Lane Methodist Church on Tuesday 27th November at 3:30pm, and this is our client’s opportunity to tell them face to face what Rotherham Sight & Sound means to them, the impact it has had on their lives and most importantly what impact it will have if the service is no longer available.

If anyone is interested in attending the consultation meeting at Talbot Lane Methodist Church, Moorgate Street, which is opposite the Town Hall in Rotherham, then please book your place by telephoning RSS: 01709 722 420 or Textphone: 01709 722437.
