Blind and Partially Sighted people to protest at removal of local travel concessions. Join us at Sheffield Town Hall tomorrow (Friday, 7th March) at 12:30pm - main entrance on Pinstone Street. Please spread the word by sharing this message widely.
SRSB has asked Sheffield City Council to fund the concessions for disabled people withdrawn by South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority (SYITA) at an estimated cost of less than £30,000 when the levy that the council pay to SYITA is being reduced by £3.3million!
SRSB also asked SYITA to reconsider their decision but they have refused so they are now facing a legal challenge for failing to comply with their statutory duties under equalities legislation as detailed in the attached letter. A formal complaint from two disabled people in Sheffield has now been filed which can be read here.
