SRSB Indoor Curling

Photo of some curling stones

Mondays 1 to 2pm

SRSB Mappin Street Centre

Have you always wanted to have a go at the sport of curling? You may have seen it on TV and it's an Olympic and Paralympic sport. We have a group for indoors curling each week.

Please contact us to book a place or call on 0114 272 2757 or 01709 722 420 or email activities@srsb.org.uk if you would like to find out more.

Get your stone to the centre of the target whilst blocking or removing other players as they try to do the same. Curling is a fun and social activity, and it can be exciting when the last player decides to launch the final stone at speed towards a loaded target!

You won’t get cold playing our version, it is on a normal floor rather than on ice, and the 'stones' are on castors!  The target has rings and scores like an archery target, and is taped on the floor. You stand or sit by the start line to roll your ‘stone’ towards it, judging the direction and how much power to put into the roll. Like the real thing, our stones have a handle and can roll at any speed, spin and knock other stones out of the way. Ours are smaller and much lighter though, so players of any sight or ability level can play, with a spotter if needed. This activity goes well with Crown Green Bowling as some of the skills are very similar.
